Steve is a motorized ventriloquist figure
He is based on a Mike Brose "Fred" casting and was constructed by a talented ventriloquist builder who gave him moving head, mouth, eyes and eyelids
Steve is currently set up to use a Wizard 11 animation board from Milford Instruments and an infra red sensor so that when anyone approaches he performs a preset routine with speech
Steve can also be configured to have a camera attached and use Inkha software which allows him to react to his environment and the people that approach him
Steve has only had two outings so far: at Cheltenham Science Festival 2006 where he appeared briefly sitting alongside the bar during the cabaret evening and at an animatronic workshop at the Institute of Making, University College London in 2014
